Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) long-grain white rice (e.g., basmati or jasmine)
  • 2 cups (480ml) water (for firmer rice) or 2 ¼ cups (540ml) water (for softer rice)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (optional, adjust according to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Measure the rice using a measuring cup.
  2. Optional: Rinse the rice under cold water using a colander to remove excess starch.
  3. Combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt in the medium saucepan.
  4. Bring the mixture to a rapid boil over high heat.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and simmer for 15-20 minutes (check cooking time according to rice type).
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes with the lid on.
  7. Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving.
