Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets, 6 oz each
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Instructions:

  1. Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. Note: Moisture is the enemy of a good sear
  2. Season both sides evenly with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat olive oil in a 12 inch skillet over medium high heat until shimmering.
  4. Place fillets skin side up and sear for 3-5 minutes until a golden brown crust forms.
  5. Flip the fillets and sear for another 2 minutes.
  6. Lower the heat to medium. Push the salmon to the side of the pan.
  7. Add the minced garlic, stirring for 30 seconds until it smells fragrant but isn't brown.
  8. Pour in the honey, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the mixture bubbles and thickens into a syrupy consistency.
  9. Spoon the thickening Honey Garlic Salmon Glaze over the fillets repeatedly for the final 2 minutes of cooking until the fish is fully coated and glossy.
