Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt

Instructions:

  1. Combine the light brown sugar, unsalted butter, and apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Whisk constantly until the butter is completely melted and the sugar has dissolved into a uniform liquid.
  3. Increase the heat slightly to bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it bubble for 2–3 minutes without stirring too aggressively until it reaches the syrup stage.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat immediately and stir in optional flavor boosts such as vanilla extract for sweets or Dijon mustard for savory dishes.
