Ingredients:

  • 12 large pretzel rods (approx. 15cm or 6 inches long)
  • 12 oz (340g) green candy melts (or white candy melts with green food coloring)
  • 12 small candy corn kernels, for fingernails
  • 1 tube (approx. 0.68 oz / 19g) red decorating icing (or red candy melts)
  • Optional: Sprinkles for decoration

Instructions:

  1. Melt the green candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Alternatively, melt in a double boiler.
  2. Pour the melted candy melts into a tall glass. Dip each pretzel rod into the melted candy, coating about three-quarters of the rod.
  3. Place the dipped pretzel rods on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Gently press a candy corn kernel onto the end of each pretzel rod to create a 'fingernail' effect.
  4. Refrigerate the pretzel rods for about 30 minutes, or until the candy coating is firm.
  5. Snip the corner off of a piping bag or zip-top bag. Fill with red decorating icing. Drizzle a small amount of red icing around the base of the candy corn 'fingernail' to simulate blood. Let sit for about 5 minutes before serving.
  6. Serve immediately and watch them disappear!
