Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons (57g) unsalted butter
- 4 tablespoons (32g) all-purpose flour
- 2 cups (473ml) whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (or regular paprika)
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
- 8 ounces (227g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 4 ounces (113g) cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley or chives (optional garnish)
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until smooth and bubbly.
- Slowly whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps form. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).
- Reduce heat to low. Gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, whisking constantly until melted and smooth. Add the softened cream cheese and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until fully incorporated and the dip is creamy.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Pour the cheese dip into a serving bowl and garnish with chopped parsley or chives, if desired. Serve immediately.
