Ingredients:
- Large eggs (preferably room temperature)
- Water (enough to cover the eggs completely)
Instructions:
- Fill a bowl with ice water and set aside. This is crucial for stopping the cooking process.
- Place the eggs in the saucepan in a single layer. Be gentle to prevent cracking.
- Add enough cold water to cover the eggs by about 1 inch.
- Place the pot over high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil. A rolling boil is one where the bubbles are vigorous, even when you stir.
- Once boiling, immediately remove the pot from the heat, cover, and let stand for exactly 7-8 minutes. Start timing as soon as you remove from the heat.
- After the timer goes off, immediately transfer the eggs to the ice bath using a slotted spoon.
- Allow the eggs to cool in the ice bath for at least 2-3 minutes. This makes them easier to peel. Peel carefully under cool running water.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your medium boiled eggs!
