Ingredients:

  • Large eggs (preferably room temperature)
  • Water (enough to cover the eggs completely)

Instructions:

  1. Fill a bowl with ice water and set aside. This is crucial for stopping the cooking process.
  2. Place the eggs in the saucepan in a single layer. Be gentle to prevent cracking.
  3. Add enough cold water to cover the eggs by about 1 inch.
  4. Place the pot over high heat and bring the water to a rolling boil. A rolling boil is one where the bubbles are vigorous, even when you stir.
  5. Once boiling, immediately remove the pot from the heat, cover, and let stand for exactly 7-8 minutes. Start timing as soon as you remove from the heat.
  6. After the timer goes off, immediately transfer the eggs to the ice bath using a slotted spoon.
  7. Allow the eggs to cool in the ice bath for at least 2-3 minutes. This makes them easier to peel. Peel carefully under cool running water.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your medium boiled eggs!
