Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (120 ml) mayonnaise (full-fat for best flavour)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) sweet pickle relish (or finely chopped sweet pickles)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) garlic powder
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for a bit of kick)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, add the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, white vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper (if using).
  2. Whisk all the ingredients together until thoroughly combined and smooth.
  3. Taste the sauce and season with freshly ground black pepper. Adjust the sweetness or tanginess by adding a tiny bit more ketchup or vinegar, as needed, to suit your personal preference.
  4. For the best flavour, cover the bowl and chill the sauce in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavours to meld together.
  5. Slather generously on your favourite burger.
