Ingredients:
- 2 lbs (900g) chicken wings, separated at the joint
- 1 tbsp (15ml) vegetable oil
- 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) salt
- 1/4 tsp (1.25ml) black pepper
- 1/4 cup (60ml) honey
- 1/4 cup (60ml) soy sauce, low sodium preferred
- 2 tbsp (30ml) rice vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp (5ml) fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp (15ml) cornstarch, mixed with 2 tbsp (30ml) cold water
- 1 tbsp (15ml) sesame seeds (optional)
- 1 green onion, thinly sliced (optional)
Instructions:
- Pat chicken wings dry with paper towels. Toss with vegetable oil, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
- For deeper flavor, cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 1 hour.
- Preheat ninja air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket (you may need to cook in batches). Cook for 10 minutes, flip, and cook for another 10 minutes, or until cooked through and skin is crispy. Internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
- While the wings are cooking, combine honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using) in a small saucepan.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Transfer the cooked wings to the bowl with the honey garlic sauce. Toss to coat evenly.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions (if using). Serve immediately.
