Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450 g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) vegetable oil (or olive oil)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) soy sauce (low sodium, if preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 g) cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tablespoon (15 ml) water (if using cornstarch)

Instructions:

  1. Season chicken thighs or breasts with salt and pepper. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add chicken to the pan; cook for about 5-7 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar. (Optional) Mix cornstarch with water until smooth and add to the sauce for thickness.
  4. Pour the sauce into the same pan and bring to a simmer. Add the cooked chicken back into the pan; toss to coat evenly in the sauce.
  5. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken. Turn chicken occasionally to ensure even coating.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
