Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup (40g) steel-cut oats
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/4 cup (60g) plain yogurt (Greek or regular, dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) maple syrup
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional Toppings: fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, shredded coconut, spices

Instructions:

  1. In a mason jar or container, add the steel-cut oats, milk, yogurt, chia seeds, maple syrup, and salt.
  2. Give it a good stir to ensure everything is well combined.
  3. Secure the lid tightly on the mason jar or container.
  4. Place the sealed jar in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight (up to 3 days).
  5. Before serving, give the oats another stir. If the mixture is too thick, add a splash of milk or water to reach your desired consistency.
  6. Spoon the overnight oats into a bowl (or eat straight from the jar!). Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!
