Ingredients:
- 2/3 cup (160 ml) heavy cream, very cold
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) 2% milk (can also use whole milk or half-and-half), very cold
- 2 tablespoons (25 g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt (optional, but enhances the sweetness)
Instructions:
- Make sure your heavy cream and milk are ice-cold. Pop your mixing bowl in the freezer for a few minutes beforehand if you're feeling extra.
- In your chilled mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and pinch of salt (if using).
- Using a Milk Frother: Immerse the frother into the mixture and froth until thick and airy, about 30-60 seconds. Move the frother up and down to incorporate air evenly. Using an Electric Mixer: Beat on medium-high speed until soft peaks form, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to overwhip! Using an Immersion Blender: Blend on high speed, moving the blender up and down in the mixture, until the foam is thick and airy, about 30-60 seconds. Using a Whisk (for the brave!): Whisk vigorously until the mixture thickens and forms soft peaks. This will take the longest, probably 3-5 minutes, and will give you a proper arm workout.
- Gently spoon or pour the cold foam over your favorite iced beverage. Watch it float and create that Instagram-worthy moment.
