Ingredients:
- 4 slices of sourdough bread (about 170 g)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (28 g), softened
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (about 120 g)
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (about 60 g)
- Pinch of garlic powder for seasoning (optional)
- Fresh herbs (like basil or thyme) for added flavor (optional)
Instructions:
- Grate the mozzarella and cheddar cheese if using whole blocks. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Place non-buttered side of 2 slices of bread on a clean surface. Evenly distribute the mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top of the bread.
- Season with garlic powder and herbs if desired. Top with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing out.
- Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Place the sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown, then flip.
- Cook the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is crispy.
- Remove from skillet and let cool slightly. Cut in half and serve warm.
