Ingredients:
- 4 cups raw, unroasted peanuts (in the shell) or green peanuts (in the shell)
- 1 cup kosher salt (or sea salt)
- 12 cups water
- Optional: 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions:
- Rinse the raw or green peanuts thoroughly under cold water to remove any dirt or debris.
- Place the rinsed peanuts, salt, water, and red pepper flakes (if using) into the slow cooker. Ensure the peanuts are fully submerged in the water.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8-12 hours. Cooking time will vary depending on the size and type of peanuts and your desired level of softness.
- After 8 hours, start testing the peanuts for doneness. They should be tender and easily pierced with a fork. If they're not soft enough, continue cooking for another 1-2 hours, checking periodically.
- Once the peanuts are cooked to your liking, drain off the salty water. Serve warm, either immediately or refrigerate for later.
