Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef, thawed
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 1 15-ounce can or jar Sloppy Joe sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 8 slices American cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package slider rolls, sliced (approximately 12 rolls)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon until fully cooked.
  4. Drain excess grease if necessary. Add the diced onions to the skillet and sauté for about 5 minutes, until softened.
  5. Stir in the Sloppy Joe sauce and water, and continue heating for an additional 3 minutes.
  6. Pour the meat mixture into the prepared baking dish. Layer the American cheese slices over the meat mixture.
  7. Separate the tops and bottoms of the slider rolls. Place the bottom halves cut side down on top of the cheese layer.
  8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the slider buns.
  9. Bake uncovered for 13-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the slider rolls are lightly toasted.
  10. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired, slice, and serve warm.
