Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450 g) fresh or frozen edamame in pods
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) coarse sea salt (for boiling water)
- Additional flaky sea salt or kosher salt, for finishing (to taste)
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes or chili oil (optional)
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced (optional)
Instructions:
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add 1 tablespoon of coarse sea salt.
- Add the edamame pods to the boiling salted water. Boil for 5 to 7 minutes until tender but still slightly firm.
- Using a slotted spoon or tongs, drain the edamame and transfer to a serving bowl.
- Immediately sprinkle with flaky sea salt to taste and toss to coat evenly.
- Optionally drizzle with toasted sesame oil, or sprinkle with garlic and chili flakes. Toss gently to combine.
- Serve warm or at room temperature. Pop the beans out of the pods with your teeth and enjoy.
