Ingredients:

  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced (red or green)
  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine flank steak, soy sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Mix well and set aside for at least 10 minutes.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and beef broth.
  3. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add broccoli, and cook for 1-2 minutes. Quickly transfer to ice water to halt cooking.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a wok over high heat. Add marinated beef in a single layer, cook for 1-2 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same wok, add garlic, ginger, and bell pepper; stir-fry for about 1 minute.
  6. Return the beef and blanched broccoli to the wok. Pour in the sauce and bring to a simmer.
  7. Add the cornstarch slurry and stir continuously for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  8. Spoon the stir-fry into bowls, serving hot with rice.
