Ingredients:

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 4 strips of bacon, chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Trim the ends of the green beans. Rinse thoroughly under cold water and drain in a colander.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crisp, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon and place on paper towels to drain, leaving the rendered fat in the pan.
  3. In the same skillet, add olive oil and increase heat to medium-high. Add the green beans and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cooked bacon to the green beans. Continue to sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the garlic to become fragrant (but not burnt).
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes to taste. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar (if using) for added flavor. Serve hot and enjoy!
