Ingredients:
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 strips of bacon, chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (optional)
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions:
- Trim the ends of the green beans. Rinse thoroughly under cold water and drain in a colander.
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crisp, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon and place on paper towels to drain, leaving the rendered fat in the pan.
- In the same skillet, add olive oil and increase heat to medium-high. Add the green beans and sauté for 5-7 minutes, until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cooked bacon to the green beans. Continue to sauté for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the garlic to become fragrant (but not burnt).
- Season with salt, pepper, and optional red pepper flakes to taste. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar (if using) for added flavor. Serve hot and enjoy!
