Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, stirring until the dough forms. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onion and garlic until translucent. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula, and cook until browned. Stir in spinach and cook until wilted. Season with Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Allow to cool slightly.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out circles (approximately 3 inches in diameter) from the dough. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle, fold over, and crimp edges to seal. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  4. Arrange pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.
