Ingredients:
- 250g (8.8 oz) all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
- 125g (4.4 oz) Quark cheese
- 60ml (2 fl oz) vegetable oil
- 50g (1.8 oz) granulated sugar (optional)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Lemon zest (from ½ lemon, optional)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar (if using).
- Add the Quark, oil, and vanilla extract (if using) to the dry ingredients.
- Mix until a shaggy dough forms. Knead briefly on a lightly floured surface for 2-3 minutes.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (optional).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to your desired thickness.
- Cut the dough into your desired shape and fill with your chosen filling.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until golden brown. Baking time will vary depending on the size and filling.
