Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) sausages (pork, beef, chicken, or vegetarian)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) cooking oil (vegetable, canola, or olive oil)
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) water (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prick each sausage several times with a fork or toothpick.
  2. Add the cooking oil to the pan and heat over medium-low heat.
  3. Arrange the sausages in the pan, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
  4. Cook sausages for 2-3 minutes until golden brown on one side. Turn and repeat on all sides.
  5. If using, add the water to the pan. Cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to low.
  6. Steam the sausages for 10-15 minutes, or until cooked through. Turning them occasionally.
  7. Ensure the sausages are cooked through. Internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C) for pork and beef, 165°F (74°C) for chicken.
  8. Remove the lid and increase the heat to medium. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally, to crisp up the skin.
  9. Remove the sausages from the pan and let them rest for a minute or two before serving.
