Ingredients:
- 2 cups (400g) long-grain white rice (e.g., Basmati or Jasmine)
- 4 cups (960ml) water (or broth for added flavor)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil or unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon (5g) salt (adjust to taste)
Instructions:
- Place the rice in a sieve and rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear.
- In a medium saucepan, combine rinsed rice, water (or broth), olive oil (or butter), and salt.
- Heat the mixture over medium-high heat until it reaches a rolling boil.
- Once boiling, lower the heat to a simmer and cover the pan with a lid.
- Simmer for 15-20 minutes without lifting the lid.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let it sit for 5 minutes; then, check if the water is absorbed and rice is fluffy.
- Use a fork to gently fluff the rice before serving.
