Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) Basmati Rice, rinsed well
- 1 ¾ cups (420ml) Water
- ½ teaspoon Salt (or to taste)
- 1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter or Olive Oil (optional)
Instructions:
- Place the basmati rice in a fine-mesh sieve and rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear (about 2-3 minutes). This removes excess starch.
- Transfer the rinsed rice to a bowl. Cover with cool water and let it soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps the grains cook evenly and become more fluffy. Drain the rice thoroughly after soaking.
- In the saucepan, combine the drained rice, water, salt, and butter or olive oil (if using).
- Bring the mixture to a rapid boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to the lowest possible setting, cover the saucepan tightly with the lid, and simmer gently for 15 minutes. Important: Do not lift the lid during this time!
- After 15 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat and let it stand, still covered, for 10 minutes. This allows the rice to finish steaming and ensures it's perfectly cooked.
- Gently fluff the rice with a fork to separate the grains. Serve immediately.
