Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) Unsweetened Almond Milk
  • 1 medium (100–120 g) Frozen Banana, sliced
  • 1 cup packed (150 g) Frozen Sliced Peaches
  • 1 packed cup (30 g) Fresh Baby Spinach
  • 2 tablespoons (30 g) Hemp Hearts (Shelled Hemp Seeds)
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) Fresh Lime or Lemon Juice (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Base: Pour the almond milk into the blender jug first. This prevents the motor from seizing and helps the blades catch the ingredients.
  2. Add Greens and Flavourings: Add the packed spinach, vanilla extract, and lime/lemon juice (if using) into the blender. Adding the spinach near the liquid ensures it breaks down completely before the frozen items are introduced.
  3. Introduce Frozen Ingredients and Seeds: Add the frozen banana slices, frozen peaches, and the hemp hearts on top of the greens. Layering helps the blending process.
  4. Initial Blend (Emulsify): Secure the lid. Start blending on the lowest setting for about 15-20 seconds to begin breaking down the greens and creating a whirlpool effect.
  5. Achieve Creaminess: Gradually increase the speed to high. Use the tamper, if provided with your blender, to push the frozen fruit down toward the blades until the mixture is completely uniform and smooth—look for the characteristic 'smoothie vortex'.
  6. Check Consistency: If the smoothie is too thick and the blades are struggling, stop the machine and add 1–2 tablespoons (15–30 ml) more almond milk. Repeat blending until silky smooth.
  7. Serve Immediately: Pour into a glass or bowl. Serve straight away for the best texture and temperature.
