Ingredients:

  • 8 Hot Dogs
  • 1 sheet Refrigerated Puff Pastry (400g)
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 2 Tablespoons Milk or Water
  • Black Sesame Seeds or Mustard

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, unfold the puff pastry. Use a pizza cutter or knife to slice the dough into thin strips (about ½ inch / 1.25cm wide).
  3. Wrap the puff pastry strips around each hot dog, leaving a small face area exposed at one end. Criss-cross the strips for a mummy-like effect.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk (or water). Brush the egg wash over the wrapped dough.
  5. Place the Mummy Dogs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Use black sesame seeds or small dots of mustard to create the eyes on the exposed face area.
  7. Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, or your favorite dipping sauce.
