Ingredients:

  • 6 mini bagels, halved (or 3 regular bagels halved and then quartered)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper
  • 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Desired toppings: pepperoni slices, cooked and crumbled sausage, chopped bell peppers, sliced olives, cooked bacon bits, etc.

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the cut sides of the bagel halves with olive oil. Arrange on the baking sheet.
  2. In a small saucepan (or microwave-safe bowl), combine tomato sauce, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Warm over low heat or microwave for a minute or two (optional).
  3. Spoon a tablespoon of sauce onto each bagel half, spreading evenly. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese, followed by your chosen toppings.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bagel bottoms are golden brown.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving. Watch out; they're hot!
