Ingredients:

  • Ears of fresh corn on the cob (unshucked)
  • Water - 1 tablespoon per ear of corn
  • Unsalted Butter - 1-2 tablespoons, melted
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Leave the corn in its husk. If the silks are poking out excessively, trim them slightly.
  2. Place the corn (still in husk) on a microwave-safe plate. Add 1 tablespoon of water directly onto the husk of each ear.
  3. Microwave on high power. 1 ear: 3-4 minutes; 2 ears: 5-6 minutes; 3 ears: 7-8 minutes.
  4. The corn is done when the kernels are tender and easily pierced with a fork through the husk. Carefully remove from the microwave using oven gloves – it will be hot!
  5. Let the corn cool slightly (a minute or two). This makes it easier to handle. Carefully peel back the husk and remove the silks. The husk should come away easily.
  6. Brush the corn with melted butter, sprinkle with salt and pepper (if using), and serve immediately.
