Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1/2 lb (225g) ground pork
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped (approx. 1/2 cup)
- 1 cup (240ml) milk
- 1 cup (45g) panko breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, for frying
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups (360ml) beef broth
- 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Soak the panko breadcrumbs in milk until softened. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, chopped onion, soaked breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg.
- Gently mix all ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides. Reduce heat to medium and cook until cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F/74°C). Remove meatballs and set aside.
- Melt butter in the same skillet. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth until smooth. Bring to a simmer.
- Stir in heavy cream, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer until thickened.
