Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) Milk (2% or Whole recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tablespoon (15 g) Granulated Sugar (Optional, for syrup)
  • About 1.5 cups Ice
  • 2 shots (approx. 2 oz / 60 ml) Strong Brewed Espresso or highly concentrated coffee
  • 2–3 tablespoons (30–45 ml) Caramel Sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Vanilla Milk: Combine milk, vanilla extract, and sugar (if using) in a small bowl or directly into the serving glass. Whisk briefly until the sugar dissolves slightly.
  2. Ice the Glass: Fill the tall serving glass completely with ice cubes.
  3. Pour the Milk Base: Pour the vanilla milk mixture over the ice, leaving about 1 inch of space at the top for the espresso and caramel.
  4. Brew Espresso: Brew 2 shots of hot, strong espresso. Allow it to sit for about 30 seconds to cool slightly.
  5. Layer the Espresso (The 'Mark'): Gently pour the espresso over the back of a spoon held just above the milk surface to create a distinct layer.
  6. Caramel Drizzle Finish: Drizzle the caramel sauce artfully over the top of the espresso layer and allow some drips to cascade down the sides of the glass.
  7. Serve Immediately: Serve immediately with a long straw or spoon. Advise the drinker to stir before consumption to combine the layers.
