Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • 2 tbsp (12g) instant coffee or espresso powder
  • 1 cup (240ml) vodka or dark rum
  • 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Combine the sugar, water, and instant coffee in a small saucepan.
  2. Place over medium heat and whisk constantly, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer until the sugar is completely dissolved and the liquid looks like a dark, glossy syrup.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat immediately.
  4. Stir in the vodka or dark rum and the vanilla extract for 30 seconds to ensure the alcohol is fully integrated.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Using a funnel, pour the liqueur into a sterilized glass bottle and seal tightly.
