Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe avocados (about 1.5 lbs / 680g)
  • 1 medium tomato, diced (about 5 oz / 140g)
  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped (about 3 oz / 85g)
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced (to taste)
  • 1 small jalapeño pepper, seeds removed and finely chopped (optional, to taste)
  • Juice of 1 lime (about 2 tbsp / 30ml)
  • Salt, to taste (start with ½ tsp and adjust as needed)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (about 2 tbsp / 30ml, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cut avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  2. Using a fork or potato masher, mash the avocados to your desired level of creaminess (smooth vs. chunky).
  3. Mix in diced tomato, chopped red onion, minced garlic, and jalapeño (if using).
  4. Add lime juice and sprinkle with salt. Mix to combine.
  5. Taste the guacamole and adjust seasoning, lime juice, or spices based on your preference.
  6. Stir in chopped cilantro if desired, or use it as a garnish on top.
  7. Transfer to a serving dish or serve with tortilla chips.
