Ingredients:
- 3 ripe avocados (about 1.5 lbs / 680g)
- 1 medium tomato, diced (about 5 oz / 140g)
- 1 small red onion, finely chopped (about 3 oz / 85g)
- 1-2 cloves garlic, minced (to taste)
- 1 small jalapeño pepper, seeds removed and finely chopped (optional, to taste)
- Juice of 1 lime (about 2 tbsp / 30ml)
- Salt, to taste (start with ½ tsp and adjust as needed)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (about 2 tbsp / 30ml, optional)
Instructions:
- Cut avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh into a mixing bowl.
- Using a fork or potato masher, mash the avocados to your desired level of creaminess (smooth vs. chunky).
- Mix in diced tomato, chopped red onion, minced garlic, and jalapeño (if using).
- Add lime juice and sprinkle with salt. Mix to combine.
- Taste the guacamole and adjust seasoning, lime juice, or spices based on your preference.
- Stir in chopped cilantro if desired, or use it as a garnish on top.
- Transfer to a serving dish or serve with tortilla chips.
