Ingredients:
- 1.5 lbs (680g) Sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tbsp (15ml) Olive oil
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup (60ml) Honey
- 2 tbsp (30ml) Soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
- 1 tbsp (15ml) Rice vinegar
- 1 tsp (5ml) Sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp Red pepper flakes (or more to taste)
- 2 tbsp (30ml) water
- 1 tbsp Cornstarch (for thickening)
- 2 tbsp Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- 2 tbsp Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Pat the beef cubes dry with paper towels and season generously with salt and pepper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, water and cornstarch. Set aside.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat until smoking hot.
- Add the beef cubes to the skillet in a single layer (work in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding). Sear on all sides until browned but still slightly pink inside (about 3-4 minutes total for medium-rare, adjust cooking time to desired doneness).
- Pour the honey-garlic glaze over the beef in the skillet.
- Cook, stirring constantly, until the glaze thickens and coats the beef evenly (about 1-2 minutes).
- Remove from heat and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions (if using). Serve immediately.
