Ingredients:
- 1 large egg
- Water (enough to cover egg)
- 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
Instructions:
- Fill a saucepan with enough water to cover the egg by at least 1 inch. Add vinegar and salt, if using.
- Bring the water to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
- Carefully lower the egg into the boiling water using a slotted spoon.
- Immediately reduce the heat to a gentle simmer. Set a timer for 6 minutes for a very runny yolk.
- Prepare a bowl of ice water.
- Once the timer goes off, immediately remove the egg from the hot water with a slotted spoon and transfer it to the ice bath. Let them cool for at least 1 minute.
- Gently tap the egg all over to crack the shell. Peel the egg and serve immediately.
