Ingredients:
- 1 standard bottle (750ml) Dry Red Wine (e.g., Tempranillo or Garnacha)
- 1/2 cup Brandy or Cognac
- 1/4 cup Orange Liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)
- 1/2 cup Fresh Orange Juice
- 1/4 cup Simple Syrup (or to taste)
- 2 large Oranges (half sliced, half juiced)
- 1 medium Lemon, thinly sliced
- 1 medium Green Apple, cored and diced
- 2 medium firm Peaches or Nectarines, pitted and chopped
- 1 large Cinnamon Stick
- 1 cup chilled Club Soda or Sparkling Water (for finishing)
Instructions:
- Wash all fruit thoroughly. Juice the required amount of oranges. Slice the remaining oranges and lemon into thin rounds. Core and dice the apple, and roughly chop the peaches or nectarines.
- Place all the prepared fruit, along with the cinnamon stick, into the bottom of a large, non-reactive pitcher or punch bowl.
- Pour in the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, fresh orange juice, and simple syrup over the fruit.
- Gently stir the mixture to combine everything. Cover the pitcher tightly and refrigerate for a minimum of 4 hours, or ideally, overnight to allow the fruit flavours to infuse the wine.
- Just before serving, give the Sangria a final stir. Top with the chilled club soda or sparkling water for fizz. Serve immediately over plenty of ice, ensuring each glass receives a good amount of the boozy fruit.
