Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) frozen meatballs (beef, turkey, or plant-based)
- 2 cups (200g) uncooked penne pasta
- 3 cups (720ml) marinara sauce
- 2 cups (480ml) vegetable or chicken broth
- 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon (5g) Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
- Crushed red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In the baking dish, spread the uncooked penne pasta evenly.
- Arrange frozen meatballs on top of the pasta.
- Pour marinara sauce and broth over the layers, combining gently.
- Sprinkle Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper over the mixture.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil, sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top, and return to the oven.
- Bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow it to cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh basil, and serve warm.
