Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup Celery Salt
- 2 tablespoons Paprika (Sweet or Hungarian)
- 1 tablespoon Ground Black Pepper (freshly ground is best)
- 1 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon Ground Mustard
- 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Mace or Nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves
Instructions:
- Measure all dry spices (excluding celery salt) and place them into a small mixing bowl.
- Optional Toasting Step: If desiring deeper flavor, spread the measured spices (excluding celery salt) onto a dry skillet over medium-low heat. Toast for 3–5 minutes, stirring constantly, until fragrant. Remove immediately and let cool completely.
- Using a whisk or fork, vigorously mix all the measured ingredients together until the color is uniform and no single spice is visible in clumps.
- Once cooled (if toasted), add the celery salt to the spice mix and whisk again until fully incorporated. This ensures the base flavor is distributed evenly.
- Transfer the completed Homemade Old Bay Seasoning blend into an airtight storage container. Label clearly and store in a cool, dark place.
