Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter
- ½ cup (120ml) heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 6 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 6 wooden sticks (for dipping)
- ½ cup (85g) chopped nuts (e.g., pecans, peanuts)
- ½ cup (90g) mini chocolate chips
- ½ cup (50g) colorful sprinkles
Instructions:
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly and insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.
- In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar and butter over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture begins to melt and turn golden.
- Carefully add heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt, continuing to stir until smooth.
- Allow the caramel to cool slightly (1-2 minutes) for easier handling
- Before the caramel sets, roll or sprinkle desired toppings onto the coated apple.
- Place dipped apples onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the caramel to harden.
- Enjoy immediately or store in the refrigerator, covered, for up to 2 days.
