Ingredients:
- 3 lbs Mixed Apples (Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, and Fuji), cored and chopped
- 0.5 cup Water
- 2 Whole Cinnamon Sticks
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 0.25 tsp Ground Nutmeg
- 1 tbsp Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
- 1 pinch Sea Salt
Instructions:
- Core the apples and chop them into uniform 1-inch chunks, leaving the skins on for added fiber and color.
- Place the apple chunks into a 6-quart crock pot. Add water, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and sea salt. Toss until the apples are evenly coated, then nestle the cinnamon sticks into the mixture.
- Cover and cook on High for 4 hours (or Low for 8 hours) until the apples are translucent and fall apart easily with a fork.
- Remove and discard the whole cinnamon sticks.
- For a chunky texture, use a potato masher to crush the fruit. For a velvety smooth sauce, use an immersion blender directly in the pot until the desired consistency is reached.
