Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for optimal moisture)
- 1/2 cup (50g) breadcrumbs (fresh or dried)
- 1/4 cup (60ml) milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tsp (5g) Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp (30g) unsalted butter
- 8 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced
- 1 cup (240ml) beef broth
- 1 tbsp (15ml) soy sauce
- 1 tbsp (8g) all-purpose flour (for thickening)
- 1 tsp (5g) Dijon mustard
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into oval patties.
- Heat skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of oil. Cook patties for 5-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and add sliced mushrooms. Sauté until mushrooms are browned (about 5 minutes). Sprinkle flour over mushrooms, stirring for 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and soy sauce; simmer until thickened. Stir in Dijon mustard and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Return cooked patties to skillet, spoon gravy over them, and simmer for a few minutes. Garnish with parsley, if desired. Serve hot.
