Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) boneless lamb or beef, thinly sliced (or chicken)
- 3 tablespoons olive oil (45ml)
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 cup (240g) Greek yogurt
- 1 small cucumber, grated and water squeezed out
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (15ml)
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill or mint, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup (100g) shredded lettuce
- 1 tomato, sliced
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced
- Optional: Feta cheese for topping
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, oregano, cumin, paprika, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Add the sliced meat and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- In a bowl, mix together Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, olive oil, garlic, dill (or mint), and a pinch of salt. Adjust seasoning to taste, then refrigerate.
- Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated meat for 3-4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Warm the pita bread briefly on the grill. Layer grilled meat, tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomato, and onion on each pita. Top with feta cheese if desired, then roll up and serve.
