Ingredients:
- 6 medium apples (approximately 2 lbs / 900 g), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work well)
- 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (55 g) packed light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp (8 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
- 3/4 cup (90 g) old-fashioned rolled oats
- 3/4 cup (90 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (100 g) packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup (113 g) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Peel, core, and slice apples. Toss apples with granulated sugar, light brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until evenly coated.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly in a 9x9 inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine rolled oats, all-purpose flour, light brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add cold butter cubes and mix until the topping resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples and bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling.
- Let the apple crisp cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
