Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup (100g) packed light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated white sugar
- 1 large (50g) egg
- 1 tsp (5ml) pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt
- 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) flaky sea salt
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, stir together the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until the mixture is smooth and pale.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract. Stir vigorously until the batter looks glossy and well-combined.
- Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir gently with a spatula just until no streaks of flour remain.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Use a cookie scoop to create balls of about 1 tablespoon each.
- Place the dough balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving 2 inches of space between each.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 9–11 minutes, removing them when edges are barely golden but centers look slightly soft.
- Let the cookies rest on the hot baking sheet for 5 minutes to allow the centers to set.
