Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Unsweetened Oat Milk (or preferred dairy/non-dairy milk)
  • 1 large Banana, peeled, sliced, and frozen solid
  • 1 cup Frozen Blueberries
  • 2 Tbsp Natural smooth peanut butter
  • 1 tsp Chia Seeds (or ground flaxseed)
  • Pinch Fine Sea Salt
  • 1 tsp Maple Syrup or Honey (optional sweetener)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Produce: Ensure the banana has been peeled, sliced, and fully frozen. If not already done, do this ahead of time.
  2. Add the Liquid Base: Pour the oat milk (or chosen liquid) into the blender jug first. This ensures the blades can turn smoothly from the start.
  3. Add Dense Ingredients: Add the peanut butter, chia seeds, salt, and optional sweetener directly on top of the milk.
  4. Load the Frozen Goods: Add the frozen banana chunks and the frozen blueberries last.
  5. Start Low and Slow: Secure the lid. Begin blending on the lowest speed setting for 10-15 seconds to break up the frozen chunks.
  6. Increase Power: Gradually ramp up the speed to medium-high. Use the tamper (if available) to push the frozen ingredients down into the blades until the mixture starts circulating freely.
  7. Scrape and Re-Blend: If the blender stalls, stop, use a spatula to scrape down the sides, pushing the thicker ingredients towards the center. Replace the lid and blend on high for another 30 seconds.
  8. Check Consistency: Blend until the smoothie is completely smooth and uniform in colour (no visible chunks of ice or fruit). The texture should be thick.
  9. Serve Immediately: Pour the smoothie into a tall glass or bowl.
  10. Garnish (Optional): Top with a few extra blueberries or a sprinkle of chopped peanuts before serving. Job done!
