Ingredients:
- 12 ounces (340g) penne pasta
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- 2 cups (480ml) marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup (100g) grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ cup (120ml) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup (150g) sliced pepperoni
- 1 cup (150g) diced bell peppers (any color)
- ½ cup (75g) sliced black olives (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves (for serving)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente; drain and toss with olive oil.
- In a mixing bowl, combine marinara sauce, oregano, basil, and garlic powder.
- In a separate bowl, mix together mozzarella, Parmesan, and cream cheese until well combined.
- Layer half of the pasta in the baking dish.
- Spread half of the marinara sauce mixture over the pasta.
- Add half of the cheese mixture on top, followed by your choice of toppings.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining pasta, sauce, cheese, and toppings.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let sit for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
