Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces (340g) penne pasta
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
  • 2 cups (480ml) marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 cups (200g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (100g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup (120ml) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup (150g) sliced pepperoni
  • 1 cup (150g) diced bell peppers (any color)
  • ½ cup (75g) sliced black olives (optional)
  • Fresh basil leaves (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente; drain and toss with olive oil.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine marinara sauce, oregano, basil, and garlic powder.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together mozzarella, Parmesan, and cream cheese until well combined.
  5. Layer half of the pasta in the baking dish.
  6. Spread half of the marinara sauce mixture over the pasta.
  7. Add half of the cheese mixture on top, followed by your choice of toppings.
  8. Repeat the layering with the remaining pasta, sauce, cheese, and toppings.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  10. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  11. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
