Ingredients:
- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions:
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Form the dough into a disk and wrap in plastic wrap.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick.
- Cut out cookies with desired shapes and place them on prepared baking sheets lined with parchment.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt chocolate chips in 15-second intervals until smooth. Add oil if needed for drizzling.
- Transfer melted chocolate to a piping bag or resealable bag with a corner snipped off.
- Drizzle chocolate onto cooled cookies in a spider web pattern, starting from the center and working outward.
- Optional: Top with edible candy spiders before chocolate sets.
