Ingredients:
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (120g) sesame flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (60g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 cup (240ml) milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 2 tablespoons honey (optional for a hint of sweetness)
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional for topping)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (for brushing)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sesame flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add cubed cold butter to the flour mixture; use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the milk and honey (if using).
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits.
- Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet. Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds if desired.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Biscuits are done when they have risen and the tops are lightly browned.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
