Ingredients:
- 4 tablespoons (30g) all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons (20g) granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons (10g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- ⅛ teaspoon baking powder
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons (45ml) milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) vegetable oil (sunflower or canola work great)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon (15g) chocolate chips (optional, but highly recommended!)
Instructions:
- In the mug, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined. Ensure no lumps remain.
- Add milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the mug.
- Stir with a fork or small whisk until the batter is smooth and well combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Gently fold in chocolate chips, if using.
- Microwave on high for 60-70 seconds. Check for doneness – the cake should be puffed up and slightly firm to the touch, but still slightly moist in the center. If still very wet, microwave for another 10-15 seconds.
- Let cool for a minute or two before enjoying (it's hot!). Careful now.
