Ingredients:
- 1 (14 ounce/397g) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 cups (200g) roasted, unsalted almonds, roughly chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides.
- In a large microwave-safe bowl (or saucepan over low heat), combine sweetened condensed milk and granulated sugar.
- Microwave on high in 1-minute intervals, stirring well after each interval, until sugar is dissolved and mixture is smooth. Alternatively, heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth (approx. 5 minutes).
- Remove from microwave/heat. Stir in the chopped roasted almonds and vanilla extract until evenly distributed.
- Pour the nougat mixture into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Cover with plastic wrap, pressing gently, and refrigerate for at least 2-3 hours, or until firm.
- Once firm, lift the nougat from the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Cut into squares or bars with a sharp knife.
